This Mother’s Day will you stand up ‘for every mum’?

We believe every mum deserves to be supported and cared for when giving birth, regardless of their background or disadvantage

Surprisingly, many South Australian women do not have access to basic items needed for themselves or their baby, during and after birth.

At The Village Co, we provide this practical support to mums through our hospital bags. Each bag is distributed by nurses, midwives and other professionals and comes with essential items for babies and mums, like nappies, wipes, baby clothes, breast pads, deodorant, sanitary pads, shampoo, conditioner and more. We also include a breast pump, along with educational and support material to help new mums.

For any mums who are sadly leaving the hospital empty-handed, we provide specials bags filled with goods just for mum.

Our heart is that no new mum would feel alone or unsupported.

For soon-to-be mum Sally*, life at home was challenging and complicated. She didn’t have the support of family or friends; she couldn’t afford baby items and she came to hospital with just the clothes on her back.

The midwives quickly realised Sally needed some extra care and after she gave birth, they presented her with a Village Co hospital bag.

Sally saw a beautiful bag filled with everything she would need to take care of her baby (and herself) over the next little while.

Sally was brought to tears as she talked with her midwife. She couldn’t believe that people she had never met would help her in this way.

Please help us care for 1000 mums like Sally who access our services each year.

Some need our hospital bags, others need maternity clothes, some need education and support. For every mum in need, we are on call, working with hospitals, midwives, social workers and community service providers, ready to help any way we can.

You can also make a donation in honour of or in memory of a special mum in your life, and we can send them (or yourself/a loved one) an e-card acknowledging this.
